Question of the night: Rewrite the number 2345 in at least 4 different ways. Here's one way: 2000 + 300 + 40 + 5...don't use this way!
Hello! We started the day again by drumming with Mr. K. It's so amazing to see how quick we are to learn new drumming patterns. We'll play again on Thursday, then our concert is on Friday...please come if you're able. Have a look below this post for information about our spring concert. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a note, or come by for a chat. In the morning, we worked on breaking numbers apart again, then used that knowledge to talk about re-grouping in subtraction. It's a bit of a challenge, but we're up to it, and we'll continue all this week! In the afternoon, we practiced with our grade 2 friends, then we worked on our simple machines kits. We're doing super well on these kits, and have been able to talk about why gears are important. Have a great night! ____________________________________________________ Spring Concert We are excited to present our Spring Performance of Water Dance on March 21st and 22nd. Question of the night: It's 2018 this year. How old will you be on March 5, 2030? Don't forget to tell us how you got to your answer! (Remember, 13 or more comments is our goal for today)
Welcome back! We began the morning with some african drumming. Our teacher, Mr. K, will be here all week, and we'll be seeing him 4 more times! We have a final concert on Friday morning, beginning at 8am. Please come, if you are able. This morning, we also continued to work on our stories. We're now focusing on strong beginnings. In the afternoon, we had some exploration time with new lego Simple Machines kits. We'll be working with those all this week, and will be completing some exciting challenges. These kits are specifically meant to build our knowledge of simple machines, especially pulleys and gears. Lego is great for learning!! We'll see you tomorrow. ____________________________________________________ Grade 3 Art Request The Grade 3s at Prince of Wales are in need of Pringles chips cans with lids. Question of the night: What was your favourite part of snowshoeing today?
Oh wow, what an amazing day to go snowshoeing! We had an amazing time this morning snowshoeing in our school grounds. We learned that it's much harder than it looks, and that if you sit still, you get much colder than if you walk. We explored the yard, and just enjoyed our friendships. It was great! When we came back in, we played a bit of Waste and our world kahoot, and that was it...the day just flew by!! Have a great weekend. Don't forget to return your field trip forms for the glenbow. Our trip is on March 14th. Bye! ____________________________________________________ Grade 3 Art Request The Grade 3s at Prince of Wales are in need of Pringles chips cans with lids. Question of the night: The "build-a-Wall" strategy during yoshi today was controversial. Do you think it was "cheating" or not, and why?
Another fun day of learning. We began the day with a snowshoeing demonstration by Mrs. Bezugley. She showed us how to put the snowshoes on, and how to best be successful with them. Don't forget your boots and snowpants tomorrow, please! In the morning, we also worked on trying to predict problems in stories. We listened to "the Large and Growly Bear", and made predictions along the way about the problem and attempts to solve the problem. Oh, and since this "recipe" for story writing works for movies too, we watched a few short films to see it in action. We also began to work on subtraction, by, once again, breaking numbers apart. If you can easily break numbers apart, then you can easily subtract and "borrow". We're really getting the hang of it, so we'll be going into the traditional algorithm fairly quickly. We continued to work to work on our writing with the other grade 4s, and also read a chapter in "Owls in the family." Wol is a real character!! In the afternoon, we played a new game called Kahoot. Make sure to tell your parents about it. We'll try to play it again tomorrow. Have a great night. ____________________________________________________ Grade 3 Art Request The Grade 3s at Prince of Wales are in need of Pringles chips cans with lids.
