Wow, the end of the year has come and gone. Thank you for making this an incredible year of learning. We grew together, and I can't wait to see all of you next year.
Have a safe and happy summer. Please email me your summer highlights - I'm always excited to get mail in the summer. Bye for now! __________________________________________________ Link for PoWer Hour Students (Term 2): https://studio.code.org/sections/LIDSBR __________________________________________________ Reminders:

Report cards went home today. Please contact me with any questions. Don't forget there is school on Monday: half-day sports day - dismissal @ noon. Have a good weekend... __________________________________________________ Link for PoWer Hour Students (Term 2): https://studio.code.org/sections/LIDSBR __________________________________________________ Reminders:
Hi! We continued to read Wonder this morning. We're starting to get a better picture of what some of the kids are talking about at school...and Auggie and Jack are friends again.
In the afternoon, we started to build our own city from scratch. Students self-selected themselves into city committees that are responsible for different parts of the city. We will be having our first Board meeting tomorrow, where committees come together to discuss needs and concerns. We'll see how that goes! Last day of school is the 27th. Report cards go home this Friday. We're planning to have a bit of a celebration on Friday, so stay tuned here for more details. Thanks! __________________________________________________ Link for PoWer Hour Students (Term 2): https://studio.code.org/sections/LIDSBR __________________________________________________ Reminders:
Wow, what a day! We started the day by having our expert urban planner talk to us about what do cities need to thrive. Thank you, Mrs. W, for all of your help, and not to mention all of the swag!
We also had a presentation on Writing on Stone Provincial Park and Head-Smashed-In by TS. What an amazing presentation! Thank you! We continued with our minecraft building of Calgary's core. Next week, we'll try to build a city from scratch...it'll be interesting! __________________________________________________ Link for PoWer Hour Students (Term 2): https://studio.code.org/sections/LIDSBR __________________________________________________ Reminders:
Hi! This morning we worked on fractions again. We had groups of students make up fractions about themselves. It's interesting, as always, to get a glimpse into their creative minds.
We also continued with health today. Thank you to those that took the time to have an interview with their child. There is no homework today, but there will be some tomorrow. We have our field trip to fish creek tomorrow. Please dress according to the weather, and make sure to have enough food for the whole day. We'll be walking quite a bit, so be warned! See you then... __________________________________________________ Link for PoWer Hour Students (Term 2): https://studio.code.org/sections/LIDSBR __________________________________________________ Reminders:
Good Afternoon! We continued to talk about fractions this morning, and we'll be linking them to decimals tomorrow. Fun! We read a few chapters in wonder this morning and afternoon - we're into Summer's point of view. We hope to finish by the end of the year. Please don't forget that we have a field trip to fish creek park on Thursday. Be dressed for the weather. We'll leave here around 10 and return around 3pm. It's going to be great! Please know that we have homework tonight about health. If your child misplaced their form, it is located at the bottom of this post. Have a good weekend. __________________________________________________ Link for PoWer Hour Students (Term 2): https://studio.code.org/sections/LIDSBR __________________________________________________ Reminders:
Wow, only 2 weeks left. We began talking about our bodies today, and will continue tomorrow. We started talking about changes that happen to both boys and girls during puberty. Tomorrow we look at that more closely.
We worked on fractions this morning, then read wonder aloud. We are now into Summer's point of view. Auggie has made a big decision to return to school. We finished the day with our minecraft building of Calgary's downtown core. We established this week as our final building week, then next week we have another, top secret minecraft challenge. We'll see how it goes! Have a good night. __________________________________________________ A note from Grade 6s. The grade 6s are accepting donations for the drop-in Centre. They will be accepting donations tomorrow. Donations of clothing and medical supplies are in high demand. __________________________________________________ Link for PoWer Hour Students (Term 2): https://studio.code.org/sections/LIDSBR __________________________________________________ Reminders:
Hello. What a Friday! We began the day with another plant watering and observation day. Wow, are they ever growing! We'll keep our experiments going until Friday, next week.
We continued with our read aloud, Wonder, this morning. We also continued to build our city in Minecraft...we're wrapping it up next week, then onto another Minecraft project during our last week. We start our health unit next week. Please return forms ONLY if you would like your child to be removed from this learning experience. Keep your eyes glued here. We're hoping to go on a walking trip to Fish Creek. Volunteers will be needed. Thanks. Have a good weekend. __________________________________________________ Link for PoWer Hour Students (Term 2): https://studio.code.org/sections/LIDSBR __________________________________________________ Reminders:
Mrs. K was in all day today. Students worked on some reflections about our trip yesterday. We also worked on fractions - we'll continue with that next week.
Forms were sent home about our upcoming health unit. These are exclusion forms, which means you only need to return the forms if you want your child excluded from these sessions. The sessions will begin on Monday, June 13. Keep your eyes glued here. We're hoping to go on a walking trip to Fish Creek. Volunteers will be needed. Thanks. __________________________________________________ Link for PoWer Hour Students (Term 2): https://studio.code.org/sections/LIDSBR __________________________________________________ Reminders:
Another successful trip to the downtown core. We were at the Mayor's Environmental Expo this today, and although we didn't get to see Nenshi, we were able to participate in two cool programs, and walked around the exhibits. In the afternoon, we made our way in to the East Village and were able to make it to where the Bow and the Elbow meet, aka Fort Calgary. What an exciting day!
We keep learning tomorrow...see you then!
