Last day of november, wow!
This morning we worked on our problem of the week, which involved shapes, lines of symmetry, and tiling a floor. It's amazing where you see math in the world. Students continued to work on our Alberta Travel Planning project. We have set next Wednesday as our due date. Students will have one work period per day until then to finish. Please see the request below... Students have begun their next two Science Units: Wheels and Levers in conjunction with Building Vehicles and Devices that Move. Next week, December 7 –11 students will participate in a collaborative,hands-on Science activity that will involve designing and building new and innovative toys. In order to make this activity a success I am hoping that parents will be able to donate the following items:

Home reading homework is again happening this week. The expectation is posting (at least) twice per week. More information is on D2L. The last day is today! We had a Dance party this morning. We joined the grade 1s for that...our buddy class was not there, but we'll see them next week! Choir Performance @ the Hitmen game is December 3rd. Please bring your paperwork to Mrs. Dennill ASAP. Happy Fibonacci Day! We began the day talking about why today is Fibonacci Day...hint: 11/23
And happy South Four day, too! The south Four group is a collaboration of four schools (POW, Andrew Sibbald, Evergreen, and Bridlewood). We have been working together with these schools to show students that their community does not end in Parkland. Today, we used an art piece from Chris Jordan as a provocation. We attempted to solve an old, math riddle this morning. It is called Leaping Frogs. The link is on D2L - try it out. We worked on some coding. Some students even started to code some pictures. Today we worked on Egyptian numbers to re-enforce place value concepts. We talked about how Egyptian numbers do not have place value, so writing them takes much more time and effort. Tomorrow we're working on some number puzzles. Get ready, some are very tricky! In the afternoon, we started doing some work on spelling using sight words.
