Question of the night: What is your new homework task? Hint: We talked about it today!
Hello! OUr book club presentations continued this morning. We had two presentations showcasing recycling and conservation. Wow, what amazing connections we've made between our actions and their effects. We also began doing some computer programming this morning using a website called code.org. Students are enrolled in our online "classroom", and work through tasks. It's very interactive. Give it a try! We talked about homework this afternoon. The details are listed on D2L, and students are expected to post comments in our Home reading Discussions at least 2 times per week. This is a place where we can learn together as a community, just in an online forum. Please log into D2l and show your parents the expectations. We have started our Alberta regions final project. Students have taken on the role of travel planners, with the end goal of designing a trip around our beautiful province. Details are also available on D2l under Content. __________________________________________________ A message from the Grade 2s & 5s is below: Veterans Food Bank Prince of Wales School… We are asking for your help to support our Veterans by donating to our School Food Bank Donation. Question of the night: Where does the name Calf Robe come from? And where do you see it in Calgary?
This morning was our Remembrance Day assembly. The Grade 2s and 5s did a tremendous job honouring our veterans. We also read a book about Peace called "The Enemy". We started with Book Club presentations this morning. Wow, what creativity. We'll continue on Thursday, as there is no school tomorrow. Choir Forms went home today. They are due back on Friday. No School tomorrow. Please take some time to remember veterans. __________________________________________________ A message from the Grade 2s & 5s is below: Veterans Food Bank Prince of Wales School… We are asking for your help to support our Veterans by donating to our School Food Bank Donation. Question of the night: If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what would it be and why?
Wow, what a monday. We began the day with our math problem of the week. As always, it is posted on our website. There are two this week. The rest of the morning was an assembly with Earth rangers. We discussed how to help endangered animals, which fits nicely into our waste and our world science study. We even got to see some live animals up close and personal, including a Red-Tailed Hawk. It was amazing. In the afternoon, we did some computer programming, without the computers. We learned that It's not easy to give instructions. Please have a look at the reminders at the bottom of this post. Tomorrow is picture re-takes. __________________________________________________ UNICEF Cards Grade 4 students have created an assortment of hand-made cards, as well as folded accompanying envelopes to raise money for UNICEF. We'll be going around tomorrow afternoon to educate the rest of the school on how these new stations will work. This is part of our Waste and Our World responsibilities. An extremely important notice about field trips went home yesterday. Please have a look for it, then contact us if there are any questions or concerns. And just for fun, here's the link for the video we watched at the end of the day. It was recommended by A.P., and is full of problem-solving . PLus, it's hilarious! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxmbmcDrXRk __________________________________________________ A message from the Grade 2s & 5s is below: Veterans Food Bank Prince of Wales School… We are asking for your help to support our Veterans by donating to our School Food Bank Donation.
