Question of the night: What did you learn about you and your partner's ability to crawl, walk, or run at a constant speed?
Wow, what a day! we started the day with a visit from Mr. Kenzie, where we worked together to analyze our crawling, walking, and running videos. We used measurements and video "frames" to prove our ability to move at a constant rate. It was super fun, and we'll continue next week. We also spent some time in our writing journals today, then had some earned time, and recycling. The day just flew! ____________________________________________________ Important Dates:
Question of the night: if you could write about anything in your new writing journal, what would you write about? (Keep that in mind, because we'll be writing tomorrow!)
Hello! We began the day with some work on constant speed. That is, we talked about speed, then we tried to record ourselves moving in constant speed. We'll be using video editing and quicktime on friday to prove we were, or were not, moving at a constant speed. This will all make sense then! We got some organizational "stuff" out of the way for our upcoming book clubs. We picked our books. Next, we'll make our reading and roles schedules. We are so excited about these books! In the afternoon, we visited with Mrs. Dennill, then Mrs. Cornford, then with Picky Penelope. Oh, and don't forget a happy birthday to AF! Have a great night. ____________________________________________________ Important Dates:
Question of the night: How was your Break? Please share one thing that was memorable...
Welcome back! We began the morning by getting acquainted with our newest student, JAB. We talked in a circle to begin the day and debrief about our amazing spring break adventures! We started a new venture this week. Following in Mr. Daniels' footsteps from "Fish in a Tree", we're going to work with a new writing journal. No guidelines for what needs to be written, only that you must do something in it. It's about you, after all, so make it personal. We began by making a cover for it today. We'll make our first entry tomorrow. In the morning, we also worked on making tens in math. We're pretty close to moving into multi-digit addition, too! The afternoon was all about simple machines. We watched an old video about differentials in cars. It was interesting to see why it's harder to turn when our wheels can only move at the same speed. Here's the video, if you're interested: Differentials. We'll continue with simple machines this week, then we're into using these simple machines to design mouse trap cars... Have a great night! ____________________________________________________ Important Dates:
