Question of the night: What are some differences between Mumbai and Alberta that affect quality of life?
This morning in our senses work, we began to focus on hearing, as opposed to sight (or light). We simulated sound waves by dropping different objects in to water, then studied the waves they produce. We looked at how they "bounce" off the sides, too. We'll continue tomorrow, by looking at the different parts of the ear. we used some sound simulations from the University of Colorado. Feel free to have a look: Sound simulations. We also continued to work on addition, by relating it to open number lines. We'll continue tomorrow with some practice. In the afternoon, we began focusing on the cultural similarities and differences between India and Alberta. We'll be focusing on the concept of quality of life, and began by looking at how Mumbai (india) deals with its garbage. We talked about some stark differences between ours and their landfills. Please remember your recorder forms, if you need one. Bye for now. ____________________________________________________ Walking Wednesday Any students who walk, ride, bike to school on Wednesday will be entered for a prize. ____________________________________________________ Power Hour January 2017 Camel Group -- https://studio.code.org/sections/DYTPMD Lion Group -- https://studio.code.org/sections/DSBGDD ____________________________________________________ Reminders:
