Question of the night: What do you think is missing from v-ville?
We began the day with music, where we're really getting great at our recorders. Some of us tested, while others practiced. Mrs. Dennill tested some of us at lunch, too. Our new topic of study in social will be fossils, which links to both Alberta and other parts of the world, not to mention rocks and minerals. We watched a heritage minute on Joseph Tyrrell (Here it is). In the video, they mention that he discovered what would become one of the richest dinosaur deposits in the world. This discussion led us to a mini-series about Alberta's fossil heritage: we watched episode 1 today, which showcased Dinosaur Provincial Park in Alberta. Over the next few weeks, we're going to focus on Alberta's fossils, why they are important to our identity, and why they are important to better understand. After recess, we worked on math, where we continued to talk about multiplication and division. We built arrays, defined the words "factors" and "product", then proved the commuttative product...wow, that was alot. We'll continue to work on all of these concepts, plus our mental math skills, next week. In the afternoon, we were so focused on our minecraft city. Our committee groups have been great about meeting with each other and asking for the needs they may have. For example, many people have asked the transportation committee for roads and bridges to be built to their particular building. We'll continue tomorrow, but we'll have to make some decisions about where schools, libraries, and firestations are going to be built. At the request of some students, (optional) pajama day is scheduled for Friday... Have a great night! ____________________________________________________ Red & White Day Red & White day is scheduled for Monday, April 24. ____________________________________________________ Walking Wednesday Any students who walk, ride, bike to school on Wednesday will be entered for a prize. ____________________________________________________ Power Hour April 2017 Grades 1 & 2 -- http://studio.code.org/sections/CTPSWY Grades 3 - 6 -- http://studio.code.org/sections/MJMFRV ____________________________________________________ Reminders:
