Question of the night: Watch this video with your family (Leachate). What is leachate, and why is it bad?
Hi! Another day, another indoor recess. I think everyone is beginning to get a bit squirmy about all these indoor recesses. We had our final caroling session this morning, which was really fun! After that, we talked about the difference between a landfill and a dump. We had some conversations about leachate, and why it is so important to keep that out of our groundwater. Then, we attempted to build landfills, with the challenge of keeping leachate from seeping through. It was a great way to do some design thinking, since we had to design, test, re-design, test... In the afternoon, we got together with our kindergarten buddies to build gingerbread houses. Then, it was PE and, of course, dodgeball Thursday! We have a celebration tomorrow. See you then! ____________________________________________________ Walking Wednesday Any students who walk, ride, bike to school on Wednesday will be entered for a prize. ____________________________________________________ Power Hour Sept 2016 Grades 1 & 2 -- https://studio.code.org/sections/DYTPMD Grades 3 to 6 -- https://studio.code.org/sections/DSBGDD ____________________________________________________ Reminders:
