Question of the night: What olympic sport did you study today in class, and post one interesting fact about your research. We have a goal of (at least) 10 different people's posts tonight. Let's hope we get there... I'm not sure whom to thank, but the weather was considerably better today. What a different a little time outside makes... We spent the early morning today exploring the olympics, and its various events. The site we're looking at is CBC's Olympic site, and its linked here. We have one more research period tomorrow, then we'll complete a visual journal page of our findings. In math, we finally got to work on some binary code addition. Here's the video we watch to get us prepared, and the sheet we use is attached at the bottom of this post. Binary code is one of the best ways to show off our addition. In the afternoon, we worked with the grade 2s on our spring concert songs. Don't forget, those songs are all posted in D2L. After that, we finished the day by talking about simple machines. We tried to use our hands (no simple machine) to cut a piece of paper, then a pair of wedges (or scissors, as most people call them), and an inclined plane (or ruler). We then talked about how we should use the simple machine that best matches the outcome we want. wedges cut better than a ramp, and screws fasten wood together better than a pulley. And tonight's mystery word is wedge, so don't forget to mention it before 9 am tomorrow morning. Have a great night! ____________________________________________________ Grade 4 Students at Prince of Wales School Current Grade 4 students living within the Legacy community who are currently attending Grade 4 at Prince of Wales School will be enrolled at Wilma Hansen School for Grade 5 for the 2018-2019 school year.
