Welcome back. I trust everyone had a great, wet long weekend. Today, we went right back to work.
This morning, after music, we started talking about division, its relationship to multiplication, and how to build it with cusinaire rods. We'll continue tomorrow, then it'll lead us right into fractions. We also talked about our relationships to plants, then setup an experiment trying to prove photosynthesis. We'll observe our findings tomorrow. In the afternoon, we focused on Calgary's historical buildings, which will be a big part of our final couple weeks of grade 4. We used the City of Calgary's website to choose buildings for construction in our minecraft world. If all goes according to plan, tomorrow we build! Field trip forms for our Urban walk and Mayor's Expo will go home this week, likely thursday. Please sign and return ASAP. Have a great night. A note from Mrs. Dennill This is a gentle reminder for grades 4-6 that May 31 (Tuesday) will be the last day for testing. Students have been given the opportunity to test during class time and at noon and after school. Students have earned belts for: white, yellow, orange, green, purple, blue, red, brown and black (challenge). Great Job!! Students will also be given a written test and have reviewed this information during class times. A note from Ms. Bezugley re: Beacon Hill School in Fort McMurray The families of Beacon Hill School in Fort McMurray have lost everything. Their principal, Garrett Tebay and her librarian, have asked for our support. They would like to help their families rebuild their home libraries. Prince of Wales can help!! Clean out your bookshelves, order some new books from Scholastic or stop by your local bookstore. Please drop off NEW or Gently Used books at the school. Mrs. Tebay will pick them up when she is in Calgary and deliver them. Thank you for your help! __________________________________________________ Link for PoWer Hour Students (Term 2): https://studio.code.org/sections/LIDSBR __________________________________________________ Reminders:
