Question of the night: Come up with as many nouns as possible that start with the letter "N".
**We are in need of MANY 2-litre Soda bottles for our classroom. If you have some to spare, please send cleaned bottles with your child. Thank you!** Also, if you are able to volunteer, we are looking for a few parents to come on a Fall walk with us on Tuesday, October 3rd, in the afternoon. Please send me a note if you'd like to come on a walk. Noun town continued in our classroom today. We began by reading "A Mink, A fink, A Skating Rink", and attempted to write down all the nouns in the book. There were probably close to 100 nouns!! We're getting a bit tripped up on the "thing" part of nouns. Some of us are confusing the "thing" in nouns with "something we do", as in verbs or action words. We'll continue tomorrow. In math today, we made the giant leap from using "units" to using centimetres or metres or inches or anything else. Now that we've done that, we can more easily move to area. In the afternoon, we talked about Orange shirt Day, which is a day to remember the survivors of residential schools. It's a pretty heavy topic, so there might be some discussion at home. We read the book "When I was 8", and watched a video about the history of Residential Schools: Every Child Matters. We'll read a few more stories, watch a few more videos, and have some more conversations this week about this important topic. Have a great night. ____________________________________________________ A Message from Mr. Delday's Grade 6 class Jacket Racket is a volunteer organization with the goal of ensuring that every child from Kindergarten to Grade 12 has a warm winter coat to wear to school. 90% of donations come from schools. The jackets are then distributed to children in schools where there is a need. This year we are inviting our students and parents to participate in a coat drive for Jacket Racket. They accept gently used warm winter coats, snow pants, hats and mittens for all ages. Often whole families are outfitted, so any size is welcome. ____________________________________________________ Important Dates:
