Question of the night: What did you learn today about testing soils?
Wow, what a day! This morning, we had the opportunity to get our hands dirty with our very own Professional Agrologist. Mr. Brake came to talk to us about how to classify soils, and he even brought in some samples, with which we got to explore. Of course, one of the testing tools agrologists use is their teeth, so some of our more "brave" (or maybe we should use another word to describe them) students tried to test the sand content in the soils using their teeth. So yes, if your child comes home and says they ate dirt, they actually mean, "ate dirt". The rest of the morning was spent looking at natural, artificial, warning, etc. types of sounds. We played a bit of a guess the sound game, at which most of us did exceptionally well. Here's the website we used: SOunds. Nobody, sadly, knew Woody the Woodpecker, though. Today, we also had the opportunity to study our shadows in the afternoon, and also test our sundials. Our shadows were smaller in closer to noon and were facing a different direction compared to the morning. Wow! Please note that a very important assignment went home today. It is about our family's heritage. Please contact me with any questions. It is due on March 13th, so there is quite some time for your family to gather information. No school until Tuesday. Have a great long, long, long weekend, then we'll see you on Tuesday. Happy Family Day! ____________________________________________________ Kindness starts here Hi it’s the give power hour. People who study soils test it by rubing it on their teeth. The one I tried was AND delicious. Comments are closed.
