We worked on a math challenge question this morning, which involved helping Mr. Hewitt estimate how much area he needed to wash and wax in our classroom. Basically, since our class is not a regular rectangle, we had to use our skills to find the area of an irregular shape. We did great!
We also read another few chapters in wonder. Auggie is now in school, or at least the first day of school. We'll continue tomorrow. In the afternoon, we got together with our buddies to draw using numbers and letters - Muffalo Potato!! (Google it!) Then, we watched a Nature of Things documentary on Plants. It was called Smarty Plants...ha ha, David Suzuki, very funny! Recorded test tomorrow at 9Am - don't forget! A note from Mrs. Dennill This is a gentle reminder for grades 4-6 that May 31 (Tuesday) will be the last day for testing. Students have been given the opportunity to test during class time and at noon and after school. Students have earned belts for: white, yellow, orange, green, purple, blue, red, brown and black (challenge). Great Job!! Students will also be given a written test and have reviewed this information during class times. A note from Ms. Bezugley re: Beacon Hill School in Fort McMurray The families of Beacon Hill School in Fort McMurray have lost everything. Their principal, Garrett Tebay and her librarian, have asked for our support. They would like to help their families rebuild their home libraries. Prince of Wales can help!! Clean out your bookshelves, order some new books from Scholastic or stop by your local bookstore. Please drop off NEW or Gently Used books at the school. Mrs. Tebay will pick them up when she is in Calgary and deliver them. Thank you for your help! __________________________________________________ Link for PoWer Hour Students (Term 2): https://studio.code.org/sections/LIDSBR __________________________________________________ Reminders:
