Question of the night: What is a proper noun? Write as may proper nouns as you can that start with "C".
**We are in need of MANY 2-litre Soda bottles for our classroom. If you have some to spare, please send cleaned bottles with your child. Thank you!** Also, if you are able to volunteer, we are looking for a few parents to come on a Fall walk with us on Tuesday, October 3rd, in the afternoon. Please send me a note if you'd like to come on a walk. We began the day with a question about drawing a triangle that has sides exactly equal to 3cm, 4cm, and 5cm. We figured out that this is a very famous triangle, and that it has to have a "corner" or 90 degree angle in it. It was fun to see everyone attempting this question. We watched a short video on nouns again today...in fact, it's called "Noun Town". There is alot of information in the video, so we focused mostly on the difference between proper and common nouns. Here's the video: Noun town and a few exercises to try: IXL and Quiz. We continued to talk about Orange shirt day today. We read a story about losing your language. In "Stolen Words", the main character's grandfather lost his cree language during the residential schools era. Students have been super interested in this part of our history, and have shown great empathy. We spent some time with Ms. Ferrari learning watercolour techniques, which we'll bring into our class for art. We saved the best for last. We started a new typing website today called typing club. This is definitely the most challenging and best tool to teach typing skills. We have a classroom account setup, and all students have a username associated with this website. Here's the link: Typing Club. The link is also on our class website in Language Arts resources. Try it our at home - it's super fun. If you, parents, want me to add you to our class, please let me know. I can create an account for you... Have a great night. ____________________________________________________ A Message from Mr. Delday's Grade 6 class Jacket Racket is a volunteer organization with the goal of ensuring that every child from Kindergarten to Grade 12 has a warm winter coat to wear to school. 90% of donations come from schools. The jackets are then distributed to children in schools where there is a need. This year we are inviting our students and parents to participate in a coat drive for Jacket Racket. They accept gently used warm winter coats, snow pants, hats and mittens for all ages. Often whole families are outfitted, so any size is welcome. ____________________________________________________ Important Dates:
